The story of O.L.D. Engineering began over 40 years ago at a small factory in Leicestershire, from which they supplied a variety of engine parts and components to the likes of British Rail, London Bus and Crane Fruehauf. Since then, O.L.D Engineering have grown into a global business operating from 50,000 square foot premises in Hinckley, employing more than 50 expert staff and building a strong reputation as an engineering solutions provider.

As you would expect from a company that produces a high volume of products for its clients every year, O.L.D. Engineering’s factory floor is a continuous hive of activity, with over 25 multi-axis machines and over 50 highly skilled operatives at work.

Many members of the team have developed their careers with O.L.D. Engineering. Section Grinding Leader, Mark Houghton, has spent the majority of his 25-year career at O.L.D. Engineering and has extensive knowledge of the company’s products and capabilities.

Having witnessed the shift from the use of manual techniques to Computer Numerical Control (CNC) in precision engineering, Mark is now able to train and support new generations of engineers in all aspects of precision engineering.

“There’s no doubt that digital techniques are more effective, with parts precision engineered to a tolerance of around 4 microns. To put that in perspective, that’s 10 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair,” Mark explained.

Whether it’s a one-off prototype or a larger batch run, O.L.D. Engineering’s expert team combines in-depth knowledge with a flexible, customer-focused approach to ensure that clients receive continuously high levels of quality and service whatever the product. On-going investment in training and innovation, partnered with an efficient manufacturing culture, allows O.L.D. Engineering to offer competitive prices with minimum lead-times.
